Percussion Ensembles

AHS percussion students performing

All percussionists in the Asheville High Band Program participate in the Marching Cougars, with opportunities to perform in two drumlines.

B Drumline

This larger group consists of up to 10 snares, 6 tenors, 10 basses, and 6 cymbals. Members focus on cadences, game-day performances, and fundamental drumming skills.

A Drumline

A more advanced ensemble primarily made up of upperclassmen. These students perform with the halftime part of Marching Band, tackling more complex repertoire for halftime shows and other special percussion events.

Concert Percussion Ensemble

Concert percussion ensembles happen during 5th period with Mr. Lackey as well as during select concert band days. The concert percussion ensembles perform a separate concert each May.

Steel Drums

During the 3rd 9 weeks of each year, during MPA preparation, percussionists come out of concert band classes to form the steel drum ensembles that will play during this unit of study.
